Why Choose a Catholic School?
“Community is at the heart of all Catholic education, not simply as a concept to be taught, but as a reality to be lived . . . Your students will learn to understand and appreciate the value of community as they experience love, trust, and loyalty in your school and educational programs, and as they learn to trust all persons as brothers and sisters created by God and redeemed by Christ.” Pope John Paul II
Catholic schools emphasize intellectual, spiritual, moral, physical, and social values in their students.
Self-discipline, responsibility, and self-motivation are benefits of the nurturing and structured environment.
Religious education is a part of the curriculum. The classes encourage faith in action. What they learn is applied to everyday life through projects and activities that encourage service and social justice.
In a Catholic school, teachers and students develop close relationships of trust. The teachers are committed to developing both the spirit and the intellect of their students. They provide a safe environment for the children.
Established in 2005, Catholic Central Elementary School was formed through the unification of Holy Trinity, St. Bernard, and St. Teresa Catholic Schools in Springfield, and St. Mary Catholic School in Urbana.
Catholic Central Elementary School opened for the 2005-2006 school year on three campuses: Lagonda, Limestone, and Urbana. The Lagonda and Limestone sites are located in Springfield and house students in grades Pre-K through six. The Urbana site houses students in Kindergarten through grade six. While we may be separated by buildings, we are one community carrying out the mission of educating our children in a Christ-centered environment. Our curriculum and student policies are the same at all three sites.
CCES is fully accredited by the State of Ohio. The Ohio Catholic School Accreditation Association’s (OCSAA) process for accreditation was begun with the opening of the school. The curriculum follows the Graded Course of Study by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Governance: Board of Trustees comprised of representatives from parishes and community
